Our
club was established in 1934 and consists of 95 acres of land
located right on
the St. Joseph River. We have approximately 400 club members.
Membership costs $140.00 per year for a Family Membership
that allows the members to use all of the club facilities.
This includes archery, muzzle loader, pistol, rifle, skeet
and voice activated trap ranges. Trout and salmon fishing
on one of the top trout streams in the nation and camping
in our 25 site campground. In the winter we simply move indoors
where we shoot archery, pistols and junior rifles. In addition
to this, we also work with the Michigan DNR to raise 38,000
Chinook salmon and 24,000 Steelhead trout in our rearing ponds
for release into the river each spring. This results in a
very high return rate of these fish to the release site each
year.
The
Club is affiliated with Michigan Bow hunters, MUCC and the
NRA. We teach the Michigan DNR Hunter Safety, Michigan DNR Safe Boating,
Personal Protection, and CCW classes.
Also Boy Scouts of America, Pheasants Forever, Michigan
Trophy Toms, Michigan Steelheaders, the Marines Toys for Tots,
Schutzhund dog obedience and many more.
Our nearest towns of any size (St. Joseph / Benton Harbor)
are approximately 8 miles north of the Club. There is a pre-1840
Courthouse museum in Berrien Springs that is 3 miles south
of the Club. We have two local wineries within a 10 -mile
radius. We are located 10 miles from Lake Michigan and 40
miles from South Bend, Indiana. Other attractions in our area
include the House of David Museum in Benton Harbor, Curious
Kids Museum in St. Joseph, Sarrett Nature Center in Benton Harbor,
Fernwood Nature Center in Buchanan and Warren Dunes State Park in
Bridgman. Near by shopping and restaurants are available at the
Orchards Shopping Mall complex, which includes a 12-screen movie theater.
